Second World War, The Widest War in World History

In a state of total and open warfare, large countries maximize all their economic, industrial and scientific capabilities for the purposes of war, thereby eliminating the difference between civilian and military resources.

INDEPHEDIA.com - The events of the Second World War or World War II (WWII or PD2) a global and terrible war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. This war involved many countries in the world - including all major powers - which eventually formed two alliances conflicting militaries: the Allies and the Axis.

The widest war in history involved more than 100 million people in various military forces. In a state of total and open warfare, large countries maximize all their economic, industrial and scientific capabilities for the purposes of war, thereby eliminating the difference between civilian and military resources.

A number of important events involving civilians, including the Holocaust and the use of nuclear weapons in warfare, have taken an estimated 50 million to 70 million lives. This number makes World War II the deadliest conflict in human history.

The Japanese Empire tried to dominate East Asia and had begun a war with the Republic of China in 1937, but a general world war broke out on September 1, 1939 with an invasion of Poland by Germany followed by a series of war statements against Germany by France and Britain.

From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns and treaties, Germany formed the Axis alliance with Italy, controlling or conquering most of the European continent. After the Molotov – Ribbentrop Pact, Germany and the Soviet Union separated and annexed the territories of neighboring countries in Europe, including Poland.

Great Britain, with its empire and Commonwealth, became the only major Allied force that continued to fight against the Axis block, by holding battles in North Africa and the Battle of the Atlantic. In June 1941, the European Axis launched an invasion of the Soviet Union that marked the opening of the largest land war theater in history, involving most of the Axis military forces until the end of the war.

In December 1941, Japan joined the Axis block, invaded the United States and European territories in the Pacific Ocean, and quickly conquered much of the Western Pacific. The Axis invasion ceased in 1942, after Japan was defeated in various sea battles and the European Axis army was defeated in North Africa and Stalingrad.

In 1943, through a series of German defeats in Eastern Europe, the Allied invasion of Italy, and the victory of the United States in the Pacific, Poros lost their initiative and retreated strategically on all fronts. In 1944, the Western Allies invaded France, while the Soviet Union retook all the territories that had been annexed and invaded Germany and its allies.

The war in Europe ended with the occupation of Berlin by Soviet and Polish troops and German unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945. Throughout 1944 and 1945, the United States defeated the Japanese Navy and occupied several islands in the Western Pacific, dropping atomic bombs on the country ahead of the invasion to the Japanese Islands.

The Soviet Union then followed through negotiations by declaring war on Japan and invading Manchuria. The Japanese Empire surrendered on 15 August 1945, thus ending the war in Asia and strengthening the total Allied victory over the Axis.

World War II changed the political direction and social structure of the world. The United Nations (UN) was established to strengthen international cooperation and prevent future conflicts. The great powers that won the war - the United States, the Soviet Union, China, Great Britain, and France - became permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

The Soviet Union and the United States emerged as competing super powers and established the stage of a World War that would last for the next 46 years. Meanwhile, the influence of the great European powers began to weaken, and the decolonization of Asia and Africa began. Most countries whose industries were badly affected began to undergo economic recovery. Political integration, especially in Europe, emerged as an attempt to stabilize postwar relations.

The Beginning Opinion and The End of World War II

The start of the war was generally agreed on September 1, 1939, starting with the German invasion of Poland; Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later. Another date for the start of this war is the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War on July 7, 1937.

Others followed the British historian A. J. P. Taylor, who believed that the Sino-Japanese War and the wars in Europe and their colonies occurred together and the two wars joined in 1941.

Other early dates often used for World War II also included the Italian invasion of Abyssinia on October 3, 1935. British historian Antony Beevor saw the beginning of the Second World War as the Japanese invading Manchuria in August 1939.

The exact date of the end of the war is also not universally agreed upon. It has always been said that the war ended during the truce of August 14, 1945 (V-J Day), instead of Japan's official surrender (September 2, 1945); in a number of European historical texts, this war ended on V-E Day (May 8, 1945). Even so, the Peace Agreement with Japan was only signed in 1951, and with Germany in 1990. (SJ.IN/ENG/*)
