Tepuy Roraima, Beautiful Mountain With Flat Peak in South America

INDEPHEDIA.com - Mount Roraima or Tepuy Roraima (Spanish) which is also often dubbed by many researchers as "Mysterious Island in the Sky" is perfect for you who love nature and adventure tourism.

Mount Roraima is in South America, between the borders of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana, most of which are included in Venezuela's territory about 85 percent, and is part of the Canaima National Park.

This unique mountain, which is bordered by upright cliffs as high as 400 meters and has a flat surface like a table in the highest area in the ranks of the Pakaraima highlands of Tepui, South America, at the peak there are many species of animals and plants that rarely can not even be found anywhere else.

Mount Roraima was first discovered by a British man named Sir Walter Raleigh in 1596. But, at that time he still could not find a path that could be traversed to reach the summit of Roraima.

Year after year passed and no one has ever stood on this mountain. Until finally in 1884, Everard Thurn, an explorer and botanist from England, became the first person to set foot on the summit of Mount Roraima.

Until now, the path found by Everard Thurn is the only route used to climb Roraima. Although indeed, some tourist services there already exist that provide practical packages for tourists using a helicopter to get to the location.

The highest point of this mountain is called Maverick Rock, which is a rock hill located in the southwestern part of the summit of Mount Roraima. Above the peak there is a peak with a total height of 2,810 meters or 9,220 feet and is the highest plateau on Venezuelan soil.

Uniquely, the rain on Mount Roraima almost every day soaks the surface of the mountain peaks in the form of sandstone, there is even pink sand on some of these sides. Interested in an adventure tour to Mount Roraima? Prepare yourself! (WS.IN/ENG/*)
